REVIEW
Lots of backstory revealed in this one. Some of it was incredibly satisfying, some of it had a bit too much text. Sometimes, the characters start speaking in paragraphs to describe history & I get a bit lost.
The council of dragons lost some of my admiration by choosing to remain underground, but I’m hoping they return before the finale.
I didn’t expect to feel pity for Kingdok, but seeing him be taunted & ridiculed after the cat stole his tongue has softened my feelings towards him.
Near the end, we finally discover the Lord of Locust’s identity (which I knew from reading the prequel) & face them a first time. A couple of the panels made me gasp (but contain too many spoilers to describe). The balloon which got the Bones driven out of town makes an appearance. I love that so much.
I love (LOVE) when children books aren’t afraid to be a little dark.
