58th read: Out From Boneville (Bone #1)

Did the prequel convince me to buy every Bone book in colour?

Yes.

Did I already own a black & white copy of the complete series?

Also yes.

Do I regret my decision?

Absolutely not. My partner (who hates reading) LOVES these books.

I’ve only read these books once, as a young child. I borrowed the series from my cousin Cedrick & read it in a single sitting, during a sleepover at his house. It’s interesting to see what I remember from back then.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

REVIEW

Things I remember feeling/thinking about this book as a child:

  • Thorn? Huge crush of mine.
  • I hated the 3 Bone people & their puns.
  • I loved (really LOVED) the rat people.

Two of the above three things are still true. I’ll let you guess which ones.

Things I didn’t remember, but loved rediscovering:

  • Ted (the small leaf-looking guy) and his brother.
  • Winter arriving all at once
  • The adorable baby possums
  • The badass old grandma. I’ve got a brand new crush.
