SYNOPSIS
Leon
I earned my reputation among magicians for a reason: one wrong move and you’re dead. Killer, they called me, and killing is what I’m best at.
Except her.
The one I was supposed to take, the one I should have killed – I didn’t.
The cult that once controlled me wants her, and I’m not about to lose my new toy to them.
Rae
I’ve always believed in the supernatural. Hunting for ghosts is my passion, but summoning a demon was never part of the plan. Monsters are roaming the woods, and something ancient – something evil – is waking up and calling my name.
I don’t know who I can trust, or how deep this darkness goes.
All I know is my one shot at survival is the demon stalking me, and he doesn’t just want my body – he wants my soul.
Her Soul to Take is book 1 in the Souls Trilogy. Although all the books are interconnected, they are stand-alone and can be read in any order.

REVIEW
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the Losers duology from the same author. Fantasy is my favourite genre, so this disappointed me a little. I wanted to LOVE this trilogy.
We love a protective & attentive romance lead. I didn’t expect Leon (the demon) to be so obsessed with consent, so that was an interesting twist. I liked that he’s sexually fluid & we got to meet his previous partner. His romance with Rae was cute, but sickeningly sweet at times. My favourite parts were when he casually coaxes her to surrender her soul and stay with him forever.
I wish we saw more of the other characters (specifically Victoria & Juniper) but the second book in the series is about Juniper, so I’ll soon get my wish.
A few (small) thing that bothered me (a lot):
- This demon was not wicked enough for me. He softened up to Rae too quickly & showed too much sweetness/kindness. I wanted more spice.
- The prose/dialogue seemed to use: “a God” & “the God” & “God” interchangeably when they hold very different meanings to me.
