Premier livre en français de 2023!

J’adorais Patrick Senécal en adolescence (j’ai quelques copies signées!), mais il y a bien longtemps que je n’avais pas lu (ou relu) ses livres. Je n’étais pas sure à quoi m’attendre avec cette nouvelle. J’ai commencé à lire et l’angoise est apparue: est-il aussi bon auteur que dans mon souvenir?

I loved Patrick Senécal in my teenage years (I have a few signed copies!), but it’s been quite some time since I’ve read (or reread) any of his books. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this short story. I began reading and anguish arose: is he as good an author as in my memory?)

Je suis très contente d’avoir trouvé cette nouvelle.

Le début était un peu lent et je commencais à m’inquièter, puis l’intrigue m’a saisie d’un coup de griffes.

J’adore quand les récits d’horreur incluent des personnages enfants & Patrick Senécal à toujours été là pour répondre à mes besoins. On partage la même croyance: les enfants ont la capacité d’être dangereux ou malveillants, leur bonté n’est pas innée. Ils sont peut-être innocents dans un sens (manque d’experience, de connaissances) mais pas d’un point de vu moral.

The beginning was a little slow and I was starting to worry, then the plot grasped me within its claws.

I love when horror stories include child characters & Patrick Senécal is always there to meet those needs. We share the same belief: children have the capacity to be dangerous or malicious, their goodness is not innate. They might be innocent in one sense (lack of experience, of knowledge) but not from a moral point of view.)
