Some authors give poor content warnings or misrepresent the communities I engage with. My mother no doubt remembers my lectures about the unsafe practices she tried to replicate after reading 50 Shades of Grey (Pornographic BDSM material should not be used as an instructional manual. Research non-fiction, if you wish to incorporate these practices in your real life safely.)

Other authors don’t go far enough for me. I’m a thrill-seeker and love to read about twisted, toxic romance. My tolerance for violence is quite high. I read fiction to have experiences I cannot have safely in real life. I want them to go too far.

It’s a fine balance & Harley Laroux strikes it perfectly.

ALRIGHT. My heart is still pounding from this memory of this book. I don’t remember the last time I’ve felt this flustered while reading. Where to start?

Mason and his friends (Jason, Vincent & Lucas) are amazing & I adore them. They reminded me of some high school friends (especially Jesse, my first love & one of my closest friends) and I didn’t like how everyone at the party spoke about them. I love goths.

I love men who wears makeup. I love men who are loyal & trustworthy.

Jessica often made me laugh by being too stereotypical. I don’t think people like that truly exist… do they? I struggled to take her seriously, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying myself. At times, it made me want to punish her with them.

I loved reverse harems as a teenager, but I haven’t found a good one in forever. It felt good to rediscover and remember that love.

I devoured this book in an afternoon, then I began complaining about the length…and google granted my wish: this is the prequel to a series. Immediately acquired them on kindle, so I could read without delay.
