13th read: A Song Beyond Walls

One novella before bed keep the doctors way! Or something like that.

I’m almost certain my friend Jey recommended this one, but I can’t remember. He can get the credit anyway 🙂

SYNOPSIS

A grand Victorian house has been abandoned for decades…and so has its resident spirit, Claire…

That is, until a young man named Dorian, who loves every inch of cobweb and dust, moves into the home and finds within its decrepit remains everything he has ever needed—including the companionship of the spirit Claire. The two of them communicate through dust and music as the veil between their worlds thins in favor of Samhain.

How near to the world of the living can Claire go? How human can she become when her phantom form begins taking on the details of her once-living body? How can Dorian resist falling in love with her when her lifelike form may not last?

And what fate is there for a spirit bound to the walls of her home? Could there be anything for Claire beyond loss?

REVIEW

I liked this story. It was short and sweet. Easy to read.

I would have loved to see more depth in the characters’ backstories. They were really interesting, but there wasn’t enough detail for me.

The ending confused me, but I answered my own question while seeking a friend’s opinion. I wish it was just a bit more fleshed out. I loved the parts where Claire was unravelling and losing track of time.

Thank you so much for reading my book! I’m honored to have had one of my titles make its way through this huge world to your home. I appreciate all of your feedback! By the way, I love how you have journaled your read with a cute drawing. 🙂

I think you’re the first to notice/mention the little drawings! It’s a way for me to ease back into art & reading (both of which I put on hold last year) but it’s a lot more fun when I love the covers hehe

This one has been on my TBR a while, so I’m glad it was a good one. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more books from you! Thanks so much for coming to leave a comment 🙂
